When the World Feels Heavy

Lately, I find myself drawn to my art more than usual. Maybe it’s escapism—though I don’t confuse that with apathy. Still, everything is heavier right now. Dense. Hard to hold. Some days, it feels impossible to carry it all and stay present.
An "a-ha" Moment
Some of you may be too young to remember MTV, back when it actually played music videos—24 hours a day. It was a new visual platform, unlike anything we’d seen before. From Max Headroom, the first “computer-generated” TV host, to the way it reshaped youth culture, fashion, and even how we consumed music, it felt electric. A cultural shift you could almost touch.
One of my favorite videos was Take On Me by the band a-ha. You really have to watch it to understand why. The lead singer lives inside a comic book, and at one point, he reaches out—literally pulling his love interest out of the real world and into his illustrated tale. That moment grabbed me then, and it still does now.
Where the World Softens, Even Briefly
That’s how I feel about my latest illustration. I want to step into it—to disappear into a quiet forest where I don’t have to think so hard or brace myself for what’s next. A place where I don’t have to acknowledge the cruelty of the world for a moment. Just stillness.
I hope you find your moment of quiet today—or perhaps it will find you.

How fun, thank you for linking the video. It was "totally awesome"
